Martin Hahn

Martin, grew up in the Pacific Northwest, born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He spent much of his childhood swimming and recreating in our lakes, rivers and oceans, one thing  that was always evident was his love of the aquatic environment.  He started his journey working in Aquatics as a teenager in high school, getting certified as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor and working at the local City of Portland Community Pools. Working at local community pools would remain a constant as he pursued schooling in Fire Science, Emergency Services, and worked three seasons doing Wildland Firefighting.

He worked full time with the City of Portland since 2018 as an Aquatic Leader, then moving up to an Aquatic Coordinator in 2021. As an Aquatic Coordinator he helps train, maintain certifications and certify the Lifeguards and Swim Instructors throughout the year. This is hand in hand with supporting maintenance, maintaining programing, scheduling and daily operations of the City of Portland,  four Community center pools,  and seven  summer seasonal outdoor pools operating from June to September. It has always been a great honor to help maintain and provide safe spaces for communities to learn to swim, play and peruse the therapeutic relief that can be found in the water.
